Boy Will I Ever Take That!!!
You always make a plan to succeed and set out to reach your goals, and when you do… well now that’s nice!! I never gave much thought to anything further than the finish line and it didn’t really matter because what took place the week following the Olympic race was beyond my wildest imagination. The experiences we had, to the people we met and food we ate, were out of sight. The ice cream that was made tableside with liquid nitrogen and thick cream, and meeting the Great One and his family, only moments before meeting the PM, were things I guess I can stroke off my bucket list. I’m not sure I would have thought those things were possible and therefore not even added them, but had I imagined that, I wonder if I would have thought “well maybe I’ll meet those two people while standing outside the Team Canada dressing room after the greatest game ever played on Canadian soil, just moments before I go in to meet the boys”. So that just happened right. OMG fails to capture the essence of what happened that week. Darla and I were treated so well and people had so much pride in that collective experience that was the Olympic Games, it was beyond belief. To be a part will be something I’m proud of for the rest of my life. All of Canada can be proud of Our Games.
