Bringing you up to speed
OK. First things first, please excuse my tardiness. I have been slacking with my blog updates ... oooops! Eight months sure goes fast. Let me catch you up:
MARCH Three-week training camp in Whistler, my first time there and my first time to ever lose my sled in a crash ... but walked away without too many bruises ... and I learned a lot about the track
APRIL A month off. Yayyyy ... rest and recovery!
MAY Back in the gym 5 6 days a week and back to work full-time. (Wow... one month off can really get you out of shape.)
JUNE/JULY/AUGUST Still work and dryland training ... ice house sessions, running stairs at princess island, high-speed treadmill, box pushes, weights, cold tubs and physiotherapy ... all this for hundredths of a second off of our push starts ... which definitely paid off this year ;-) Thanks KF.
And finally ...
SEPTEMBER Sliding time. We started the season off in Whistler this year. I was a little nervous considering I hadn't left the track on my terms back in March. But I also knew I had the skillset to accomplish my goal of placing in the top six, making the national team and touring on the Intercontinental Cup circuit. We had three selection races. One was a four-run race in Whistler (which simulates world championships and the Olympics). The last two were in Calgary. In the three races I managed to have three personal best push starts and one personal best down time, and most importantly secure my national team spot. Woohoo!
First stop: Winterberg, Germany. Stay tuned :0)
