Path to 2014

The path to 2014, for this married couple, is long and winding like the tracks they navigate head first at blinding speeds over 145kph on their steel framed sleds.

Both athletes are required to earn three qualifiers during the 2012-13 campaign that begins in November 2012. During the Olympic year of 2013-14, one more qualifier must be earned before Christmas to successfully be named to the Canadian Olympic squad that will compete in Sochi Russia during the 2014 Olympic Games in February of that year.

Between now and then, the pairs physical and mental training will be delicately balanced with all other aspects of their busy lives in order to achieve a harmonious environment, conducive to realizing their potential. Heeding the warning of many other top performers, and not allowing the end results of their aspirations to rule and consume their everyday life, will be an objective at the forefront of their mindset.

No strangers to hard work and sacrifice, these two athletes feel privileged to be able to peruse a dream of this magnitude and are both excited and invigorated by the many challenges that lay before them.
